Who is responsible
Floating After Five Photography is operated by Richard Dang, serving Toronto, Ontario. This policy describes our website and photography-service practices under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our privacy contact is floatingafterfive@gmail.com; please put “Privacy” in your subject line. Privacy inquiries are handled by Richard Dang, the business operator.
Information collected through this site
- Contact name, email and telephone number; optional business or organization name for applicable shoot types.
- Shoot type; people and duration for candid shoots; event type, guest count and coverage hours; portrait group and purpose; property room count, approximate size, exterior and twilight preferences; or a custom shoot description.
- Preferred date, date flexibility, neighbourhood/address or venue, optional budget range and notes.
- Communications you send us and our responses.
The form has no file or image upload. It does not ask for payment details or create an account. Please avoid sending sensitive information, guest lists, children’s personal details, access codes or unnecessary information about other people in free-text fields.
Hosting and external asset services receive technical request information such as IP address, browser/device information, requested resource and potentially referring page. The application does not add an analytics or advertising identifier.
Photography-service information
If you engage us separately, scheduling, assignment instructions, agreements, billing records and photographs may be involved in providing the service. Photographs can identify clients, guests, occupants or minors and can include capture time, location or other metadata. We limit collection and disclosure to the assignment’s legitimate needs and applicable permissions. The website itself does not store client galleries.
Why we use information
We use inquiry information to respond, check availability, prepare estimates and clarify your request. If you book separately, relevant information is used to schedule and carry out photography, edit and deliver images, provide customer support, maintain business and accounting records, and meet legal obligations. Technical request information supports delivery, troubleshooting and security of the website. We do not use this form to enrol you in promotional marketing.
Your choices and consent
Submitting an inquiry authorizes use of the information necessary to handle that inquiry, as explained beside the submit button. It does not consent to unrelated marketing or publication of your image. You can contact us before submitting if you have questions, or inquire by email instead. Omitting necessary contact or assignment details may prevent us from preparing a useful quote.
We ask for separate, optional permission before using identifiable client or guest photographs in our portfolio, social media or advertising. You can choose the images and permitted uses. Declining does not affect your photography service. Permission to publish a photograph is separate from permission to capture it for client service and from copyright ownership. New purposes require fresh permission where applicable.
Providers, disclosures and processing outside Canada
Our website is configured for Vercel hosting. Quote requests are sent through Resend to our business email inbox at Gmail (Google). These services process the contact and assignment details needed to handle your inquiry.
Google Fonts serves fonts and Unsplash serves service illustrations directly to your browser. These services receive technical request information when resources load; they do not receive your quote form answers from our application. See the Google Fonts privacy information and Unsplash Privacy Policy.
We use providers for the purposes described here and remain responsible for information under our control, including appropriate contractual and other safeguards. Information may be processed or stored outside Canada and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement or other authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions. Ask our privacy contact about provider arrangements.
The website does not sell or rent customer personal information or send it to advertising systems. We may disclose information with your permission or when legally required or permitted, including responding to lawful requests.
Cookies and external resources
The application code does not set cookies, use browser local/session storage, or install analytics, advertising pixels, heat maps or session replay. External font and image requests still occur; absence of a tracking script does not mean that providers receive no technical information. Hosting/security services may use necessary technology according to deployment settings. You can control cookies through your browser; blocking external resources may affect fonts or illustrations. If we add non-essential tracking, we will update this notice and implement an appropriate consent choice before it runs.
Retention and safeguards
Information should be kept only as long as needed for the stated purposes, legal/accounting obligations and legitimate dispute handling, then securely deleted or de-identified. We do not promise a fixed inquiry deletion period or permanent image storage. Your separate agreement should specify image delivery and availability.
We aim to use administrative, organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including restricted access and careful provider selection. No internet transmission or storage system is entirely secure. If an incident occurs, we will investigate, contain it, keep legally required breach records, and report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify affected people where PIPEDA’s real-risk-of-significant-harm test requires, as soon as feasible.
Access, correction, withdrawal and concerns
Email our privacy contact to request access, correction, information about our practices or withdrawal of consent where applicable. We may need proportionate identity verification and will explain lawful limits, including protection of others’ information and required record retention. We ordinarily respond to access requests within PIPEDA’s 30-day period, subject to lawful extensions with notice. Withdrawal may affect our ability to complete a service; we will explain the consequences. Withdrawal of optional promotional-image permission does not affect eligibility for services.
If a concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children and people appearing in photographs
The inquiry form is intended for adults arranging services. We do not seek unnecessary information directly from children. A minor appearing in a photograph is not necessarily the person submitting the form. For photography involving minors, we confirm appropriate parent or legal guardian permission and consider the young person’s understanding and wishes. Before using a minor’s identifiable image in our portfolio, social media or advertising, we obtain separate, optional permission from an appropriate parent or legal guardian for the selected images and uses. An event organizer cannot automatically consent for every guest or child. Contact us about photographs involving a child or a concern about an identifiable person.
Changes and accessible formats
Updates will appear here with a revised date. Material changes affecting consent will be communicated as appropriate. Contact floatingafterfive@gmail.com for questions or an accessible format, and see our Accessibility Statement.
